elephant or horse?

1) the bishop is stronger than the knight in positions with moving pawns on two flanks
 2) two elephants usually have a noticeable advantage over a horse and an elephant or two horses in open positions
 3) the knight is stronger than the bishop in positions with blocked pawns (especially when the bishop rests on its pawns)
4)if you have two elephants: after exchanging one of the elephants, you can get the “elephant against horse” endgame, in which the elephant will be stronger.
5)if the bishop has remained in the endgame against the knight! then the position of the pawns is important for evaluating such endings! both sides should strive not to put their pawns on the bishop’s square! if this happened (who has the bishop), then in such positions the knight  It turns out to be stronger than the elephant. This is explained by the fact that the horse can attack the fields of two colors, while the elephant attacks only the fields of the same color.
6)if in the endgamee elephant,white-field versus white-field elephant it is evaluated as follows: the position of the side whose pawns are on the elephant-colored square is worse (all or even several pawns)
7)if the horse against the horse remains in the endgame, then the winning plan is usually the same as in the pawn endings: the positions of the king, knight and pawns are strengthened, a passed pawn is created and the threat of holding it in the queens is created. If the opponent’s king is sent to delay the passed pawn, then the king  penetrates the pawns of the strongest side to the pawns of the opposite flank, destroys them and creates his new passed pawn. if the weakest side fights the passed pawn a horse, then with the combined efforts of the king and the horse the enemy horse is pushed back.  The real difficulty of the weakest side is that you cannot trade horses.
8)when evaluating the endgame, you should always think about whether the remaining light piece is in harmony with the location of the pawns !!!
